The Bible

Though we differ widely in our personal understandings of the Bible, we affirm the church's view of scripture as the major authoritative resource for Christian life and work. This authority rests in it's testimony about the Lordship of Christ and it's testimony concerning the revelation of God in Jesus Christ, the ultimate authority of Christian faith for us.

The Church

We believe that the church on earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one. We hold tenaciously to the belief that this unity will not be accomplished by the impostition of private opinions upon each other as articles of faith or duty. Rather, we embrace diversity within the guideline that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. We believe that God's one church is to proclaim and live this central fact of human history---calling all to accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Service

We believe that the Gospel (the Good News of God in Jesus Christ) must not only be communicated, but must also be acted upon. God seeks justice and freedom for the whole human family. Within the Disciple church we do not expect our ministers to work toward this alone; in fact, we don't consider our ministers to be above anyone else. We believe that all ministry begins from those sitting in the chairs---and we call on all who believe to truly live their faith.

Open Communion

We celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday. All who have accepted Christ as their personal Savior are welcome at the table.

 Baptism by Immersion

In baptism, the old self-centered life is set aside, washed away and a new life of trust in God begins.  Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.
